The information I am writing on James William Westlake was researched by
George Toriello on January 5, 2020. 

James W. Westlake is listed on the Draft Register of Hackensack on July 1, 1941 months before the attack on Pearl Harbor and his name is on the World War II Plaque at City Hall in Hackensack NJ.  Any other connection to Hackensack is unknown at this time.

On Unit Website and 1930 census reveals that James W. Westlake was born on
May 19, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY and in 1930 lived at 119 Chauncy Street Brooklyn, NY. 
1940 Census shows that he had moved to Newark, NJ and was living at #3 Alexander Street. 
James W. Westlake could have moved to Hackensack after the Census in 1940 was taken and then he registered for the draft on July 1, 1941 in Hackensack.  He was working for Eclipse Aviation Bendix Corporation also in 1941 which had factories across the street from
Teterboro Airport in Teterboro, NJ right next to Hackensack, NJ. 

James W. Westlake a Private 1st Class with the 63rd Armored Infantry Battalion 11th Armored Division was Killed in Action on March 18, 1945 in Rorbach, France.

James W. Westlake received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and is buried in the
American Cemetery in Luxembourg.
